Leaving Cheyenne
Al and I are headed east for a family reunion and started this amazing book by Larry McMurtry. It’s told from the POV of Gid Fry. There are only a few lead characters. Molly, Johnny, his dad.
It’s surprisingly simple. Surprisingly complex.
We’ve laughed out loud. We’ve cried.
How have I not read this book before? Published in 1963. Set in Texas. It’s about basic life. Friendship. Love. Loss.
Surprisingly simple. The plot is Gid’s life from the 20’s on. The life he shares with his dad. The trouble he gets into with Johnny. The love he has for Molly. Growing pains. Mistakes.
Did I mention it’s surprisingly good?
